Treatment & Evaluation

Therapy

Treatment goals are developed on a case-by-case basis according to specific needs presented. Methods may involve individual, family, couples or group therapies as well as parent/child, school or community interventions. Therapy can be short-term or long-term in focus.

Cognitively focused treatment may address learning problems, school readiness, giftedness, intelligence and/or various mental processing abilities. Emotionally or relationally focused treatment may address behavior disorders, anxiety, depression, stress, social skills, marital issues and parent-child problems as well as physical, emotional and sexual abuse. Additional treatment issues might be co-dependency, impulse control problems, relational difficulties, including social skill problems, specific men's or women's issues, sexual difficulties, addictions, eating problems, stress management, divorce adjustment and left over issues from dysfunctional family backgrounds.

Psychological Evaluations

We provide diagnostic evaluations of children, adolescents and adults. The purpose and goals of a psychological evaluation are initially developed according to the needs presented in the referral. Some evaluations will be very comprehensive such as assessing intellectual and personality functions as well as home and educational environments to rule out or better understand attention problems (ADHD). Other evaluations may be more narrowly focused such as assessing a reading difficulty through measures of intellectual and academic function. Dr. Weeks often completes child and adult forensic evaluations that are coordinated with courts, attorneys and related agencies.
